●東京の姪が来週結婚するので、小さな手製の贈り物を作って郵送した。パキスタンの郵便事情は今一だから、結婚式前にちゃんと届いてくれればいいが。
Made small gift, coasters, for my niece in Tokyo who gets married next week, already have sent by post. I hope it will be reached before her wedding.
●ずいぶん前からカラーシャでつながっている友人たちが、たまたま同時期にサイフラーさん一家、バラングルの村人を訪ね滞在しました。フランスからのジョージ夫妻は以前フレンチ文化センターの館長の仕事でパキスタンに滞在されていました。今回はカラーシャの現状を調査しに来たということでした。またデンマークのビルギッタさんは以前は毎年夏休みにサイフラーさん一家を訪ね滞在。最近「バラングル」という彼女のカラーシャにおける30年間の調査、見聞の集大成を綴った本を出版されてます。
Kalasha connected friends since long time ago have visited Saifullah Jan, his family and villagers. Birgitte (right) from Denmark who used to stay for her summer holiday and recently published a book “Balanguru” which is her 30 years compilation on her Kalasha work.
写真上：この8月の夏祭りに嫁入りした新妻が、水瓶や鍋、現金、たくさんのクルミパンなどの夫側からの贈り物とともに実家に戻る行事はほとんど村全体の行事となる。夫の家では朝から嫁に行った姉妹や従姉妹、親戚が集まり、クルミパンが焼かれる。集まった人たちにはお祝いのチーズとパンが出される。
The newly married woman who has eloped with her husband on the day of summer festival in August now go back to her father’s house with gifts of utensils, money and many of walnuts bread from husband’s side.
